![]() their internet bridge is not available for purchase locally.Acu-Rite's own 'my backyard' online service is basically unavailable for anyone outside the US or Canada, and. Also, by pushing the iPhone/iPad compatibility, it is implied that there would also be Mac support (although I acknowledge this is only a perception the buyer may have rather than a deliberate attempt to mislead).Īnd, for us in Australia, this is compounded by the following two factors: Nowhere in the packaging does it state any system requirements for the software, nor does it state anywhere about the potential need for an optional internet bridge. But of course, what it doesn't tell you is that for this to work you need to first upload the data to Acu-Rite's online service or another website and that to do that you first need to have a Windows PC to upload the data. I can only speak for the 02032CAUDI unit I purchased in Australia, but the packaging makes a big deal of the fact you can access the Weather Station's measurements remotely, anywhere from your iPhone or iPad with the included Acu-Rite software and the Acu-Rite app downloaded from the App Store. However, here's the reason why I have a problem with how Acu-Rite (or more correctly, Chaney Instrument Co) have managed things. I think Acu-Rite's internet bridge is the right path for them to go down as it makes the process totally independent of a user's other computing hardware/software. I've also just posted a question to this forum about weather stations compatible with Macs - so it may be worth you following (assuming I get some responses). Otherwise you can buy a station compatible with one of the following Mac native software packages: ![]() This software is a little cumbersome because it is extremely customisable and has a lot to it, although you probably won't need 95% of the features. I know the developer is currently working on a revised Mac version to improve Acu-Rite support. If you're otherwise happy with the unit, you could check out Weather Display as there is a Mac version and it officially supports the Acu-Rite 01035 (so will almost certainly work with the 01036). I've been doing some research on models that will work more nicely with a Mac, but almost certainly you're going to have to buy 3rd party software anyway. Will almost certainly return it - besides the fact that the packaging for this unit is extremely misleading - I'm also in Australia and the Acu-Rite backyard service is useless if you're not in the US or Canada. Yes, I'm in almost the exact same situation, having bought an Acu-Rite 02032C only to find the exact same thing.
